Do you want to be a Technical Writer?
The principles of a Technical Writing resume are the same as those of any other type of writing:
Identify your target audience
Choose one member of that audience and "sit" next to her
Walk her through the material, speaking out loud
Answer all the "so what" questions
Write as you speak
And it doesn't matter whether you are writing a resume for yourself or a set of user instructions for someone else...
It may sound strange to equate technical writing resumes with selling but the objective of ANY piece of writing is to be READ!
And to be read, copy must be compelling.
Whether it is drawing you in to click on that "Buy Now" button, or detailing the steps to be taken to set up the new DVD player that's just arrived as a result of that last click...
Or leading that recruiter to pick up the telephone.
It's a career changing move...!
